Are You Sure? - The outlook of a woman with ovarian cancer
When I was told that I had ovarian cancer I thought there was a mistake or something!!! He was crying and so upset that all I wanted to do was hold him and tell him everything would be fine. I was told I had close to 6 months to live. I paid no attention to those numbers and started to think about how blessed I am. I knew nothing about ovarian cancer, but I knew my Lord. My family was there for me and I feel like they were in more pain than I. During my treatments I met the most wonderful people in the world. First, I met my husband. He was the same man that I married 8 years earlier. But, he was, and is, the boat that floated to me just as I was sinking. His encouragement and love have kept me happy with a true smile on my face. I think most all women have a fear of their lover seeing them in a (not so cool), position—literally!!! I did. But, my sweet Billy made me feel like the most beautiful woman on the planet. Yes, I have had some bad days and nights, but I feel blessed to see and feel the love of my friends and family while I still live. The flowers, sounds of laughter, cry of a newborn, smell of rain and many, many other wonders we take for granted fill my days. If there is one thing I can say to help a family suffering the news of cancer, it would be—love, love and love her/him. Think about what you need when you are scared to death! You need care, concern, protection, and love. I take more time to thank my Lord for all these things. And when I sleep I know God is holding me very tight and giving my family and loved ones the support they need. It all comes down to love I feel from God that gets me through the days and nights. We laugh a lot. Cry a little. And thank God we have each other. My good friends, good family, good doctors and nurses, 7 little grandbabies, 5 children, and the best husband ever has helped me get this far. I think I will be around to see my babbies finish school and hopefully find a man or woman to spend the rest of their life with. Like mine. My Billy, my love, my life !!! Wanda
